WILDLIFE & SAFETY

Living among wildlife is one of the highlights of staying here. Learn how to enjoy the animals safely and respectfully, along with a few rules to keep unwanted visitors out of the house.

Wilderness Area

  • A map of the wilderness area can be found on the desk in the study.

  • Only high clearance vehicles are permitted in the Wilderness area.

  • Cycling, jogging, and walking is encouraged in the Wilderness area.

  • No fires are permitted in the Wilderness area.

Game Drives

In the pantry you will find a hot box to take with you should you wish to stop at one of the dams for sunrise or sunset drinks. Contents of the hot box include:

  • Acrylic wine and drinking glasses

  • Ice bucket

  • Stanley flask

  • Canvas cutlery holder

  • Stainless steel snack containers

  • Please do not take any glass items on game drives, except for mugs for coffee/tea.

  • There is a trestle table in the pantry to take on game drives.

  • 6 camping chairs can be found in the study. Please return them to the study on departure.

Wildlife

  • Please DO NOT feed any of the animals. They learn fast and keep returning for food which may result in them becoming a nuisance and ultimately being terminated.

  • Watch out for the monkeys. They are sneaky and quick and will take every opportunity to enter the house and steal food left lying around.

  • Always bear in mind that you are in the bush. Snakes, scorpions, and other critters are around – so be on the lookout!

  • If you have left the bedroom doors open for the day, please do a quick check in your room (including your bed) to ensure no unwanted critters have come for a visit.
